What I like and don't like about logos.

Logos are everywhere, from the MacDonald's smile to the FedEx Arrow (it's there look closely). Logos symbolize and represent their respective company, it's what first comes to mind first and because of that, more thought should be put into them to ensure that you leave a lasting mark on your clients.

The tricky thing though, is that while it would be ideal to put in as much symbolism and objects into a logo, there still has to be a balance between simplicity and intricacy.

Of course not all logos will appeal to everyone, below are examples of a logo I like and a logo I don't like. Note that it's not those specific logos that I dislike, but what those logos have and don't have.

Take a look at this one for example:

Nice right? It's simple, yet still conveys movement in the upper right. The colors are vibrant and gives of a sort of energy and the myriad of tones are complemented by the white background to make them show out more. What I like about this so much is that there's movement, it's alive!

Contrast to the next one below:

Ehh...meh. Exact opposite of what I liked about the previous one. No colors at all aside from black and white. It looks like a tattoo and because of that, it's rather...static and unchanging. You could argue that it shows movement because of the left side, but as some of my classmates and teacher pointed out, the "BEARS" kinda plants the whole thing in place.
